Grinding Wheel

The grinding wheel can be used with pneumatic tools and electric grinders. An expensive wheel that is used for precision grinding work is usually dressed and trued, or calibrated, after a period of use, to ensure its performance is maintained and usable life extended. Dressing the wheel exposes fresh abrasive material, and 'truing' ensures the grinding wheel surface is parallel to the material or object being ground. A general purpose grinding wheel is normally used for a finite period time and then discarded and is replaced.

This is used generally to cut a material or polish a hard surface. This is the one widely used for centre less & cylindrical surface grinding operations. As it is used only on the periphery, it forms a little concave surface on the piece. This is used to gain on several tools like chisels. The size of these wheels differs to a great extent, width & diameter of its face obviously depends on the category of its work, machines grinding power. Types of grinding wheels are Straight Grinding Wheels, Cylinder, Tapered Grinding Wheels, Straight Cup, Dish up, Saucer Grinding Wheels. These wheels are reinforced with fibreglass to ensure safe operation and long life. In use, natural pores are created as the special retinoid fillers are melted by grinding heat, constantly renewing high cutting efficiency.
